Newmont Mining Gann Angles

Newmont Mining (NEM) is a gold stock with plenty of institutional interest.
This means due to its huge following it is a good candidate for Gann Angles.

Gold and gold stocks are waiting for the FED and other central banks to swing to dovish monetary policy, Powell hinted this in last speech, and next week the FED is expected to hike 0.25% to 2.5%, however the 3 previously planned hikes in 2019 look very doubtful. 

In short the hike from near 0% to 2.5% is all the US economy can take, as things start to break (ie corporate credit funding stuff like share buy backs.) with the US 10 yr above 3%. A concern to Powell is the US stock market gain contributes to a huge amount of tax revenue to the US treasury and higher interest rates will take this away (April 2019 is tax time), therefore Powell will take great care not to break the stock market. 

There is a monetary policy change coming in 2019, a swing to more dovish tone which should support gold and gold stocks. 

Newmont Mmining Gann and Wyckoff Chart is one to keep am eye on.

Golds Xmas Gift

Three things have tweaked the fundamentals for gold.


1) Bitcoin is not attracting the hot cash, unlike 2016.

2) Fed's Powell dovish switch, now less expectations for interest rate hikes in 2019.

3) China to import more goods from the USA, hence more US Dollars required.

The question now is will this move gold back to resistance before year end? 

Gann angles look good, cycle looks attractive, now we wait for volume and a price to break into new ground. Profits could be golden for Xmas.

The Power of the Dow Jones Cycle

Once again the data confirms cycles exists in the market.
Value and other fundamental investors must concede cycles are in the stock market. [You can learn more about our Hurst Cycle tools here].

Previous Post Kitchin Cycle warned of market volatility

In the past this blog has posted the chart below, the Kitchin cycle or 900 periods, and you can see its success.

The cycle source:

.."Joseph Kitchin (1861–1932) was a British businessman and statistician. Analyzing American and English interest rates and other data, Kitchin found evidence for a short business cycle of about 40 months.[1] His publications led to other business cycle theories by later economists such as Nikolai  Kondratieff, Simon Kuznets, and Joseph Schumpeter"..

Now to prove this cycle is very important the Dow Jones cycle (880 periods is close to 900 within margin of error) also posted below.

The cycle says the time is to be aware of a down turn. Investors should keep an eye on Wyckoff price patterns for distribution. The massive rally from 2009 may be ending. Watching and waiting.

Fangs Stocks Change Review

Change comes to every thing, the oxygen we breath slowly ages all human cells, and some how it is a big surprise change has come to the FANG stocks.


In the charts below the FANG stocks (FB, AAPL, AMZN, NFLX, GOOG) are compared to the benchmark XLU (utility stocks) in readtheticker.com sector rotation chart. Utility stocks are nice and safe and slow. An excellent control set against the aggressive FANG stocks.

Here is the picture just before the volatility of 2018. The rock stars are in control of the majors trends.  All FANG stocks are judged as very strong compared to the benchmark (XLU).

Now after the recent pre 2018 mid term sell off. The picture shows FANG stocks still a strong, but strength compared to the benchmark XLU is rapidly evaporating.
